「スーパーマリオ3Dランド」の売り上げペースは、これまで携帯ゲーム機向けに発売されたスーパーマリオシリーズの中で最速であるとのこと。なお携帯機向けには、「スーパーマリオアドバンス」や「Newスーパーマリオブラザーズ」などの作品がこれまでに発売されました。
Nintendo of America社長のReggie Fils-Aime氏は、この結果について満足しているとのコメントを発表しました。同氏は、米国におけるニンテンドーDSの1年目の販売台数を3DSが8ヶ月間で達成したことに触れ、「マリオカート7」によって通期を通して3DSを軌道に乗せていくと語りました。
