印刷用ページ 任天堂は、据置型ゲーム機「Wii」の後継機を2012年に発売すると発表しました。
プレスリリースによるとWiiの後継機は、2011年6月7日からアメリカ合衆国のロサンゼルスで開催されるイベント「Electronic Entertainment Expo（E3）」にて体験できる状態で出展され、その際に具体的な仕様について発表するとのこと。
Wii後継機の発売時期は2012年としていますが、2012年3月期（2011年4月～2012年3月）の業績予想にWii後継機の販売を見込んでいない事から、2012年4月以降の発売になる可能性が高そうです。
2006年に発売されたWiiは、2011年3月末時点で全世界8601万台を出荷しており、任天堂がこれまで発売した据置型ゲーム機の中で最も多い台数を記録しています。
