私たちは、「レボリューション」という開発コード名で、これからのテレビゲームにおいて私たちが目指す方向性を表現してきました。その答えとなるのがこの名前です。
英語の「We」をイメージした「Wii」（ウィー）は、家庭の誰もが楽しめるというコンセプトを表しており、また、Wiiの「ii」は、ユニークなコントローラ、そして人々が遊ぶために集まるさまを表しています。
E3前に、一足お先にレボリューションの正式名称が発表されました。Wiiについての詳細は、E3開催中の5月10日に明らかになる予定です。
