海外のゲーム情報誌Nintendo Powerが行ったインタビューによると、紺野氏は「nintendogs + cats の開発が完了した今、私はより多くのエネルギーをマリオカートに費やしています」とコメントしました。
3DS版については「たくさんの新要素を採用するつもりです。そして私は、それらの要素が何であるか発表できる日を楽しみにしています」と語りました。
気になる新情報については「今年のE3で詳細をお話しできるでしょう」とのこと。2011年のE3は米ロサンゼルスにて現地時間2011年6月7日から、任天堂プレスカンファレンスは7日午前9時（日本時間8日午前1時）から開催予定です。
