ブルームバーグの記事によると、豊田氏は「今後も有力ソフトの開発から退くことはなく、地位にも変更はない」とコメントしました。宮本氏は「ソフト開発陣が十分に育ってきたことから関与の度合いを減らし、その余力を若手育成に使いたい」との意向を持っているとのこと。
米誌ワイヤード電子版は、宮本氏が専務を退き、より小規模なプロジェクトに従事すると報道しました。8日の任天堂株は、この報道を受けて一時的に下げ幅を広げるなど混乱が生じましたが、任天堂が否定したことにより事態は沈静化しそうです。
