印刷用ページ Nintendo of Americaは、ニンテンドー3DS本体の新色として「Midnight Purple」（ミッドナイトパープル）を2012年5月20日より発売します。同日は米国で「マリオテニスオープン」が発売される日でもあります。
3DS本体の新色が海外で先行して発売されるのは今回が初めてです。なお、日本での発売予定については現時点では不明です。
